Excellent article, Ed! Ambiguous goals, unfortunately, are not only found in marketing or advertising campaings. I work in Corporate Communications and it's been quite an effort to sit down and write down down-to-earth, measurable and consistent objectives that set the horizon in a more concrete place rather than "have more visibility", "increase the visits to the website" or "that everybody recognizes our logo".
